Cartref yn y Ddinas is a regular open mic creating a space for connection, creativity and a sense of 'home in the city'.
Rooted in Welsh culture and community, the night brings together poetry, spoken word, music, comedy, performance and more - welcoming anyone looking to share, listen, meet people and find their place in the city.
ABOUT
Cartref yn y Ddinas - meaning Home in the City - started from a desire to create a space where people could come together and feel at home, wherever they're from.
Based at The London Welsh Centre, the event has its roots in Welsh culture while opening its doors to anyone looking for connection, community and creative expression in London.
It's a space for artists to share work, experiment and try something new, but it's also simply a place to come along, meet people and feel part of something.
From poetry and spoken word to music, comedy, performance and everything in between, each event brings something different to the room.
You don't have to be Welsh. You just have to be looking for a little bit of home.
Who is it for?
Everyone.
Whether you've lived in London for years, just arrived, grew up here, moved from somewhere else, or are simply looking for somewhere to belong - Cartref yn y Ddinas is for you.
We're interested in what home means to different people and how creativity can help us find connection in a city that can sometimes feel overwhelming, exciting, lonely or unfamiliar.
Want to Perform?
Cartref yn y Ddinas is open to performers of all backgrounds and experience levels.
Whether you’re a poet, rapper, musician, comedian, spoken word artist, performer - or something that doesn’t quite fit a category - we’d love to hear from you.
You don’t need to be Welsh to take part.
